TONY'S OYSTER SHACK

Tony's Oyster Shack is a seafood and shellfish farm located on a small pier in the Lim Bay. Because of its authentic look and the freshest clams that come straight out of the sea for you, the farm becomes a part of TV shows almost every year, attracting reporters and guests from all over the world.

As the name implies, the house specialty is fresh oysters in lemon and homemade olive oil, which have been traditionally grown here for more than 15 years.


In addition to oysters, you can try and buy mussels and other clams grown in the protected waters of the Lim Bay. The friendly owner of the farm can tell you a lot of interesting things not only about the clams, but also about the Lim Bay, while the tasting of the Roxanich wine combined with fresh oysters will delight your refined taste.

"Tony’s Oyster Shack is located in the Lim Fjord, 20 minutes drive from Vrsar or Rovinj and is part of a shellfish farm where you can try different kind of shells right there on the spot, directly from the sea, which gives a special charm to this location. To be clear: this is not a restaurant, this is just a wooden little construction on the sea, there are a couple of high tables with a couple of chairs, but mostly you stand or find a place on some wooden improvised bench. They will open the shells in front of you and put them straight in your hands. During the season the owner, Emil Šošić, is mostly on the site. Due to the crowds – the place is getting more and more popular - it is still good to make a reservation on his e-mail before you decide to drive down the winding road to the fjord. They grow oysters, sea truffles, mussels and Noah’s Ark shells.

With prior reservation you can get the mussels buzara style, cooked in their own juice, while all the other shells are opened and served on the spot, with a little lemon and possibly some Istrian olive oil and white wine. Payment is in cash, so be sure to take some money, since there are no ATMs nearby. You never know how hungry you will be until you try the shellfish just opened in front of you, that will surely delight you so fresh and salty with the taste of the sea. And if you’re curious, you might as well learn to open oysters and sea truffles yourself."
