OXTE

Michelin-starred fine dining Mexican restaurant in Paris, France.

The Oxte restaurant stands out from the crowd by serving up French produce with a Mexican twist in northwestern Paris, not far from the Arc de Triomphe. Chef Enrique Casarrubias mixes flavors from his childhood in Mexico with French gastronomy since 2018. He fills plates with his vision of gastronomy; a spicy and colorful partition, written on two staves, is being served in the intimate setting with a vibrant décor. In 2021, the Michelin guide rewarded the restaurant with one star.

The name Oxte is a reference to the hometowns of Enrique Casarrubias’ parents in southern Mexico. Casarrubias has been wowing Parisian gourmets since his time at Le Crillon and the Four Seasons Hotel George V. He was also named a “Young Talent” by French fine dining guide Gault & Millau.

He also gained experience in the kitchen of chef Akrame Benallal, who gave him a sous-chef position in his Hong-Kong restaurant.

Casarrubias offers diners an insight into the tastes and smells of his childhood, combining French ingredients with the spices and condiments of his homeland. Mexican cuisine is perfectly balanced with fine dining and inventive cooking techniques. This approach results in dishes that are vibrant and spicy, yet also subtle and elegant.

Enrique Casarrubias stands out from his peers and brilliantly cultivates this deep will of making Mexican flavors meet Parisian tastes. He fills his South-American-inspired traditional recipes with surprising condiments, mysterious plants and bold seasoning. The pride of place is given to fine cuts of meats. Whether they are red or white, they are always perfectly cooked. Inspirational and sensational cuisine paired with an outstanding wine make this restaurant a spot guests cannot wait to return.

Top of the list of must-try dishes are the chef’s specialities, including ceviche-style longfin tuna with mussels and peppers, pigeon with rainbow chard and tortilla dust, and his incredible avocado with white chocolate and lime.

"This pleasant and cosy little restaurant in the Étoile neighbourhood, near the Arc de Triomphe, proposes delicious contemporary cuisine with Mexican influences. French ingredients are infused with condiments, herbs and spices by a talented and passionate Mexican chef who also gets involved with the service. Savvy and skilfully prepared dishes such as monkfish and roasted fennel, pastilla crumble and pastis broth or longfin tuna served ceviche-style with mussels and peppers, are turned out by a chef who cooks and seasons the produce beautifully. This colourful, punchy and well-seasoned food is so good you'll soon be back for more!"
